Its 2021!! 8.1.21

Well Happy New year to you all…’s been a long slog to get here hasn’t it? 2020 totally kicked our butts in so many ways, but here we go, 2021 – lets see what you bring us.

I usually write this blog on New Years Eve, when the kids are tucked up in bed, a big roaring fire, a wee glass of wine and I take such joy looking back through the year of work I have built up, choosing my favourites and putting them all together for you to view. This year I spent New Years eve in my old trackies, painting my bathroom and playing Cluedo at midnight with Rich and the boys. But finally – after several nights at my desk I’ve managed to get this blog finished at last!

I must admit, Covid coming on the scene has changed me. At the beginning of the year I got sucked into a world of researching, devouring every relevant article I could find on the matter and listening to a lot of podcasts. I think I read almost every conspiracy theory there was about this subject, and often found myself in the deepest and darkest of rabbit holes to do with our world. It wasn’t good. It kept me awake at night.

I had to wean myself off doing this because my head was so full of information, misinformation and darkness. I try now to only listen to the news once a day. I follow a very clever man online called Ivor Cummins ( The Fat Emperor) I make sure I get daily exercise and fresh air ( combined if possible) and I have stopped worrying that maybe Bill Gates is trying to inject us all with a microchip and that our governments are lying to us and rubbing their hands together each night at the thought of their evil plan. No, I’m done with that nonsense. That said, I do feel our world will change, and that those at the top will use the opportunities covid has given them to bring in a new system. But right now, I’m back homeschooling again, and honestly I barely have time for anything else other than that and keeping a constant flow of snacks to them.

I am taking pleasure in the simple things and the positives from last year. The main one was how much time, real quality time, I got to spend with my children. What a pleasure that has been ( bar homeschool lol). And also how much time I got to spend at the beach – my favourite, favourite place…..thank you to all who travelled up to have your sessions there…..I hope I will be doing more of those again this year.

One of my favourite films is called ‘ About Time’. If you haven’t seen it, you should. It’s a really beautiful film which teaches us to appreciate the smallest of things. And I do. I wake up full of gratitude every single morning. I have always been able to find beauty in the little things. Evie’s hair in a high ponytail, the laughter that echoes though my house when they all play together. Winter sunshine streaming through my home…

And in my line of work I see these moments echoed every time I meet a new family, photograph a wedding, watch someone busy and enjoying their work. I love it. I love capturing it. I feel so so lucky I get to be the one to give people those memories, things maybe I see that they possibly might miss.

To those many couples this year who had to postpone their special days, my heart really ached for you, but when it comes around again, its going to be even better than before, because you will have been so starved of connection in 2020 that to have your wedding the way you want it, with all your loved ones, it’ll be one big, emotional, amazing party and I cannot wait to get shooting these again.

That said, the weddings which did go ahead this year were incredible. The smaller, more intimate gatherings were such a joy. Less time pressure, pure love, married because they just really wanted to go ahead and get married. Sure there were a few restrictions on your days, but when I was there working, I hardly felt them and I know you didn’t either.

So, ok, i’m rambling, as I have tendency to do…….Here’s a snippet of what I shot in 2020. Lets pray by Summer 2021 we will be well on the way to normality again.

Thank you everyone. Your continual support to my wee business has meant so much, especially in 2020. I can’t wait to be allowed to get shooting again! x

Tracy & Mark

This seems so long ago now, and yet only a blink.  This was a very special wedding and one I have been trying to blog for a long time.  This was the last of my ‘pre Evie’ weddings.  I was 38 weeks pregnant and lets face it – I was enormous!

Thankfully Tracy is one of the actual sweetest, kindest people I know and fully understood that I was in a slower gear to my normal pace.  To other photographers, though I have done it 3 times, I do not recommend working this close to your due date – unless you have an awesome little sidekick like Peter Carvil picking up the slack when you feel like you are about to fall in a heap ( or go into labour – I blame Rachel’s driving on the golf buggy lol.)

The day was perfect.  Relaxed and effortlessly beautiful.  Tracy actually teaches my boys at P1 & P2 level so I know her well, though ill admit I didn’t know she was such a huge animal lover – luckily I am too so I embraced all the little doggies and donkeys that morning, loving it all ❤

Mark compliments her sweet nature perfectly, so easy going and seems to just adore his stunning new wife. Such a beautiful couple – they are going to make the most gorgeous little dark haired babies someday 😉

A lot has changed since I shot these images. I have a beautiful baby daughter now – almost 7 months old – she’s squealing with delight right now as I make funny faces and chat as I type. I am a busy mum to three amazing kids.  Each day, just like all other busy working mums, I juggle my way though each task and sometimes amaze myself at the days I accomplish a lot, then there are the days I get absolutely nothing done and I just have to surrender to them.  I am so grateful to all my clients though who totally understand that right now, I need a little longer – but I am slowly finding my stride and I really appreciate that you give me time to enjoy and adjust to being a mum to 3.

And now for the pics.  Tracy and Mark, thank you for trusting me, I loved being your photographer and it was the absolute perfect wedding to finish up on.  Wishing you every happiness in the world. x

Happy New Year! 1.1.2019

For the past week or so I have been flicking though my 2018 hard drive and picking out my favourites for my end of year blog. Never an easy task, but always a very enjoyable and very satisfying part of my year.

Since I was pregnant for half the year and on maternity leave the other half I feel I haven’t got nearly as much content as I usually would, there is a lot of commercial work missing, jobs I just wasn’t able to take on last year – but I will be pushing more commercial and fashion again in 2019.  Still i’m very happy that I managed to do so much despite being heavily pregnant with aching ribs and hips!!

I shot my last weddings at 38 weeks and back out shooting weddings 2 weeks after Evie was born ( that was actually harder, but I did it) and I didn’t let any brides or grooms down so im pretty proud of that. 🙂

This is me out shooting my last wedding with my ginormas bump – I don’t recommend working this close to your due date, but I am so glad I was able to do it 🙂

Also delighted to have won four awards for my photography this year :-

Sorry if thats a bit braggy, but honestly I was in total shock and we should celebrate our achievements when we work hard for them, it’ll probably never happen again LOL!

2018 has been very good to me. Most importantly it brought us our beautiful daughter Evie.  She is the best little baby, she wakes up smiling and is so content, my heart just bursts with love and gratitude every time I look at her and our boys.  We are far from millionaires in this home but I feel so richly blessed and I am doing my best to teach our children to be thankful for all the amazing things they have, and for the simple things they take for granted.

It may be just my kids, but over the holidays they can be wee demons, they go to bed late and sleep in late and they are all out of routine, high on selection boxes and their wee heads spinning not knowing which toy to play with next, by bedtime they are like wee pishmyers…Rogan threw a hissy fit last night because I hid in a rubbish hiding place for hide and seek…….I had to remind him of the fact that they have a mummy & daddy who love them so much, who plays with them and does their best for them, a warm home, a cosy bed, food to eat, clean clothes to wear and an abundance of toys…I have to say I got a little mad (and it takes a lot for me to get there) but nothing annoys me more than when they are ungrateful….so I will continue to drum this into them forever – the wee skitters!!!

Today though they have been absolute dotes!

So 2019 goals include losing the stone and a half i’ve been carrying about since having Evie, organising my time well, to start running again and get back to yoga, spend even more time at the beach, eat better and to continue to enjoy every delicious wee moment of life, for I don’t know about you, but each year that passes feels shorter and faster!

So, I will end my blabber now and leave you to enjoy some of my favourites from 2018.

My diary is open for 2019/2020 🙂  Congratulations to the many newly engaged couples who have already been in touch – dates do book up fast so do contact me soon if you would like to consider me as your photographer 🙂

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year full of love, health and happiness and as always THANK YOU so much for your support and custom each year I honestly appreciate every single job I get booked for, comment or like and positive message I receive.

Beverley & Ian

So its coming up to the 1 year anniversary of this beautiful wedding.  I didn’t get a lot of blogging done last year – its always the blog which suffers when I get busy, but this was such a joyous and beautiful day – it deserves to be shared and I feel now is the perfect time.

Beverley and that amazing, infectious smile, is just one of those people you will instantly warm to and want to be friends with immediately.  She is an absolute sweetheart in every way and her big handsome husband adores her – especially that smile!! 🙂  She looked incredible in her stunning  ‘Rime Arodaky‘ two piece gown from The White Gallery.

Their wedding was stylish, yet understated, relaxed, but full of fun.  And then there was the added bonus of two of my favourite things…bluebells and cherry blossoms – both out in full force – Hurray for a couple who don’t mind trekking through a forest on their wedding day!!!

So I will leave you with some of my favourites from their day now and wish them a very HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! xxx

As a little side-note 2018 is now fully booked for weddings but my 2019/2020 diary is now open, dates are filling up fast though so book soon to avoid disappointment. x

Claire & Conor

So as its another absolutely wet and miserable day out there and as I’m soon to kick off my 2018 weddings I thought I would share one of my bright sunny gorgeous days from last year.

This is Claire and Conor.  They laughed from start to finish, and though she may look like the most beautiful wee doll in the world, Claire is one of the most humble, lovely and down earth girls ever. I think they make the most perfect pair, and now with a new arrival coming soon in the McCourt home the fun will really start. Wishing you every blessing guys ❤

So here are my favourite moments from this gorgeous day. Enjoy. x

Ps – I will be opening my 2019/2020 diary next week – a lot sooner than intended – but with so many enquiries coming in – I’ve had to surrender 🙂  So if you have already enquired with me for 2020, please do check in with me again. x
